Beginner witchery
So you feel yourself drawn to the journey, perhaps its the practice of witchcraft itself, herbs, crystals or spirits. Once you respond to the call it can often feel hard to know where to start. Here are some pointers to give you spiritual direction.
1)Always start with protection magick!
By starting off by learning how to cast a protection spell you’re keeping yourself spiritually safe, this is important when you start your journey as you open yourself to energies and other magick, and it’s important that you can shield yourself from any unwanted energies.
Look at candle magick for protection, as well as researching protective crystals and herbs. Start of by learning about two crystals: clear quarts and amethyst is a great place to start! Learn about two herbs: rosemary and salt are perfect tools for a beginner!
2) Explore the different types of paths!
Research different witchcraft paths, this might help you decide which path you may want to follow. Read up on crystal witchery, green witchery and solitary witchery, alternatively if you aren’t drawn to those paths, ask google “what types of witches are there” and see if there is a path that resonates with you. Always be mindful of the sources you are utilising, books are better than google, and although tiktok and Instagram can be great for inspiration and some educational content, always be mindful and check their references!
3) You do not need to know everything immediately! Take time to learn!
You do not have to know everything at once! Take your time with learning, there’s no need to rush. By breaking down you’re learning into smaller parts it will be easier to consume the information.
4) Do what you are drawn to!
Do what you’re drawn to! If there parts of witchcraft that you’ve heard of that you’re interested in, look it up! If you start with a topic that has your interest, then you’ll be able to focus more on the learning!
5) You path is fluid and subject to change
Remember that this journey is fluid, your morals and experiences will change and grow as you learn. You can absolutely learn how to be a witch; you already are a witch! So let’s get learning!
Resources I’d recommend;

Bucklands complete book of witchcraft
The four agreements by Dom Miguel Ruiz
The Secret by Rhona Bryne
Cunningham’s Encyclopaedia of magical herbs
The Good Witch’s Guide by Shawn Robbins and Charity Bedell
The Tarot Life Planner: A beginners guide to reading the tarot by Lady Lorelei
As always read and learn but be sure to keep a critical approach, use the information to enhance your journey and expand your learning! It is important that you question information you consume. Consider the resources, where did they come from? Do they reference anything? Who is the author/ creator of this information? Learn and stay curious!
Happy Witching!
